LYNX Technik has released its remote control protocol to allow for the easy integration of third party control systems. LYNX has its own PC based control system as well as remote control panel and SNMP support. The remote protocol now provides yet more options for the control and monitoring of LYNX hardware.
The first system provider to use this interface is BFE in Germany for their upcoming project with the German broadcaster Hessischer Rundfunk (HR). Harald Tauchnitz, head of development at BFE said "The LYNX Remote Control Interface allowed us to implement control of LYNX equipment in a very easy and efficient way. We can now offer access to selected parameters in our control room system KSC-Manager".
Any system with a LYNX R CT 5030 Master Controller or R CP 5000 Remote Control Panel running software version 2.6.7 or higher supports the LYNX Remote Control Interface as a software option. The underlying protocol is fully ASCII-based and thus human-readable. Messages are exchanged through UDP ports, or optionally RS232. The LYNX Remote Control Interface can even be accessed through the standard UNIX® tool netcat to allow for scripting without any proprietary software.
